Daddy and his boy

Matt is a tattooed, bearded, super smart computer geek with a heart that melts for his sweet boys.  I walked in the bathroom to help with baths and I see Matt cuddling with his little son.  Precious moments....

Christmas...better late than never.

Our Christmas was wonderful as we are very blessed to have our health, a warm home and each other.
 Rocco hanging candy canes....
 all in one spot...
 Big kids happy to help!

A treasure from days past!  Liv and D found this hilarious!
 All done!
 Christmas morning.
 Opening gifts.
 D gets a bow!
 Rocco taking a picture.
 My baby elf.
 New shoes for D.
New hoodie for Liv!

Brothers

Our loves just hanging together...there is really nothing sweeter than watching brothers fall in love with each other.  Every morning, when Rocco hears Roman wake up, he runs in his room, crawls in his crib and says, "Hi RoRo, how's ya doin?"  Roman smiles from ear to ear a big open mouth smile!  What a way to start my day!

First Friend

One day last summer I took Rocco to the playground near our house.  We ended up meeting a little girl named Hartley and her mom and baby brother.  Hartley and Rocco enjoy playing together.  They get into mischief, are learning to share with each other and love to dance, jump and chase each other around the house.  Hartley is Rocco's first friend and we couldn't be happier to have her in our home to play!
                                           Coloring together.

Being reminded that feet go on the floor...but they looked so cute on the table!
                                           Sharing snacks!

Adele - Make You Feel My Love [Live]

To my family...especially those children of mine!

"Make You Feel My Love"

When the rain is blowing in your face,
And the whole world is on your case,
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear,
And there is no one there to dry your tears,
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.

I know you haven't made your mind up yet,
But I would never do you wrong.
I've known it from the moment that we met,
No doubt in my mind where you belong.

I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue,
I'd go crawling down the avenue.
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love.

The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret.
Though winds of change are throwing wild and free,
You ain't seen nothing like me yet.

I could make you happy, make your dreams come true.
Nothing that I wouldn't do.
Go to the ends of the Earth for you,
To make you feel my love

Mice, Injuries and Green Trucks

This weekend has been a challenge.  It started Friday night when DeAndre's basketball team lost the District Championship game!  Major Bummer!  On the bright side they are still in 2nd place so they advance to the regional tournament.  Anyway, I was holding my Roman and I stepped down from the bleachers and twisted my knee.  It is currently locked in place, swollen and painful.  I had surgery on this knee many years ago and I knew it was starting to feel weak again...so off to the Orthopedic Doc tomorrow to either have it yanked back into place (not a fan of that idea) or schedule surgery to have it repaired (not a fan of that idea either).

Next, Matt and his mom spotted a mouse in my kitchen.  That is just gross and only happens to dirty people!   Anyone that knows my mommy knows that she could never have a dirty, messy daughter!  My house is most usually close to spotless.  I am that weird freak of nature that can't relax in a mess.  Anyway, that little mouse ran under the stove and we haven't seen him since.  We have humane traps set up in different areas of the house.  I did have a chocolate stash in one of my cabinets.  Mickey mouse ate through the wrapper and ate some of my chocolate heart.  Who knew, mice love chocolate!

And then...there are those moments that happen and you wish that it would happen everyday and it makes your heart so full that you think you might burst...

Matt took Rocco to Target and bought him a green truck.  Rocco held that truck in his little hands and was beaming!  Then he said, "Daddy, Rocco happy."  Are you kidding me?  There is nothing more precious in the world than that.  Matt was a big sappy mess.  He keeps telling me that as we remember this weekend of Mice and Injuries...it's also the weekend of the green truck.  (Smile here and feel grateful for the innocence and purity of babes).

Roly Poly Roman

Little Ro is now almost five months old.  He is as sweet as ever with just a few annoying habits.  :)
Ro has decided that sleep is overrated.  Yesterday, he slept for 45 minutes in a 13 hour time frame.  How does he do it?  Matt seems to think he is brilliant and that his brain is in overdrive causing many wakeful hours to "take it all in."  At night, he has been waking up every two hours to eat...it is really exhausting!  At his 4 month check Roman weighed in at 17 pounds, 5 ounces and measured 26 inches long.  85th percentile for weight and 96th for height!  We are so grateful for a healthy baby boy!  Roman is always damp...if you want a kiss, it is going to come with a glob of slobber so smooch at your own risk!  He is always gnawing away on something and drooling all over his face and down the front of his body...a big, damp mess!  Roman recently starting rolling over and can even push himself forward when he is on his tummy.  He will be crawling in no time!  Roman's favorites things to do (besides eat) are: watch Rocco's every move, play in his exersaucer, chew on his hands and to grab his feet and pull them up towards his mouth.  His favorite toy is a stuffed monkey that sings songs.  He beams every time he sees it!  I try not to squish him daily because he is so smiley and fat!  Love this little boy!

I love Rocco

Sue, I'm copying this idea from you!

I love that Rocco HATES haircuts and so he has this messy mop mullet type hairtstyle that is always in his eyes and always a mess.  He got a car stuck in it the other day so I had to cut his hair in one spot to get the car out.  Now he has this tacky bald spot on the side of his head too.  It's a super ugly hairstyle and I love it!

I love that Rocco loves Roman so much and that he talks to him and kisses him.  And then, he will pull out Roman's bouncer seat and point and say, "RoRo seat" which means we are supposed to put Roman in it and play only with him.

I love that Rocco is so sassy and feisty but he tries really hard to be good.  When we ignore his yelling demands he walks up calmly, points his finger, asks for what he wants calmly and ends with a long drawn out, "okaaaaaaaaay."

I love that Rocco calls his Grandma Baaf or Baafwah.  If we correct him and say "Grandma" he says, "No, Baafwah."  I am afraid that she is forever Baafwah.  She doesn't mind.  :)

I love that Rocco helped me make his Daddy's birthday cake and every time I said "daddy's cake," Rocco said, "Rocco's cake."

I love that Rocco loves to play basketball on his little hoop with Daddy and Duwandawe (Rocco for DeAndre).  He runs after D saying, "Duwandawe ball."  DeAndre drops what he is doing to play with Rocco.  I love that Rocco calls out the shots he makes or misses by saying, "Rocco swish, Rocco brick or Rocco airball."  Each of them is fine with him!

I love that Rocco is very sensitive.  He can call out your feelings, by the look on your face or tone in your voice.  "RoRo happy", "Rocco sad", Mommy pissed off"(yes he did.)

I love that Rocco knows all the letters of the alphabet, can count to twenty and name letters up to ten, knows his shapes and colors, his body parts, can name the baseball "guys", knows opposites like; on and off, tall and short, fast and slow and he can illustrate them.

I love that Rocco sings "T-shirt tiiiiimmmmeeeeee" when his daddy puts a T-shirt on.

I love the excitement in his face when he masters a new task, that he isn't afraid to praise himself, that he stares at himself in the mirror and makes faces and that he sings the clean up song and starts to clean up by just moving things to new places.  He then praises himself by clapping and saying, "Rocco did it!"

I love that he calls his sissy his "best friend."

I could go on and on and on about this wonderful little Rocco.  What a joy he is!

Varsity Basketball

DeAndre played most of the season with the JV basketball team until the Varsity coach requested that he move up to play with them...it was a hard decision because DeAndre was starting on JV and playing most of the game.  He had made new friends and was having fun with the team.  Matt and I talked with the Coach and with DeAndre and together we all decided that he would play a few more JV games and then move up to Varsity.  The coach promised us that he would give him real minutes and make sure that the seniors were accepting and encouraging.

His first game he scored 3, second game 5 and the third game 7!  His confidence has increased and he is exciting to watch.  He has done really well so far!

                                                   Free throw shots
 Shooting 3's
Making a lay-up!

The crowd cheering for his layup!  They started chanting, "HE'S A FRESHMAN!"

He gets good grades too!  Proud of that kid!

Rocco and The Guys

Rocco has an affinity for classic baseball players...
Pause the music player so you can hear baby genius!
